Fara'a and Jerash watershed plans
Jeroen Kool acted as project manager for NEDECO in the preparation of the Integrated Watershed Management Plans for the Jerash region in Jordan, and for the Fara’a region in the West Bank.

These plans have been prepared in the framework of the Fara’a and Jerash Integrated Watershed Management Project (WASMAP), financed by the EU Short and Medium Term Action program (SMAP II) and co-financed by the Netherlands Partners for Water Program.

The watershed plans address urgent environmental problemsin the two watershed areas. The overall objective of this project was to create sustainable development conditions for the rural population in the project areas on both sides of the Jordan Valley by addressing the watershed related problems in an integrated and effective manner. The plans have been prepared from 2003 until 2009 for the Jordanian Ministry of Environment and the Palestinian Environmental Quality Authority, in partnership wit the United Nations University (UNU), and NEDECO Consultants from the Netherlands. Water Partner has been responsible for the Water Governance and Water Financing aspects of both watershed plans.
